2.1 Information You Provide
During onboarding and usage, we may collect:
- Age range (e.g., "Under 18", "18–24")
- Self-reported daily phone usage
- Reading goals and preferences
- App blocking selections
- Discipline settings and reading configurations
2.2 Camera and User Content
The App allows you to scan or import photos of book pages. Images are processed locally on your device using Apple Vision OCR. The original images are not transmitted or stored externally.
However:
- Extracted text from scanned pages is sent to backend services for quiz generation
- This text may be processed by third-party AI providers
2.3 Automatically Collected Data
We collect certain usage and device data automatically:
- App interaction events (e.g., onboarding steps, scans, quiz results)
- Device metadata (device type, OS version, language, country)
- Anonymous identifiers
2.4 Subscription and Purchase Data
- Subscription status
- Purchase history
- Trial eligibility
All payments are processed by Apple. We do not collect or store financial information.
3. How We Use Information
We use collected data to:
- Provide core functionality (reading verification, app blocking)
- Generate comprehension quizzes from scanned text
- Track progress (reading sessions, streaks, earned minutes)
- Improve app performance and user experience
- Analyze usage trends
- Manage subscriptions
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We share limited data with the following services:
4.1 Analytics and Infrastructure
Firebase Analytics (Google) — Usage data, device information, anonymous identifiers.
Firebase Cloud Functions — Processes OCR text for quiz generation.
4.2 Subscription Management
RevenueCat — Handles subscription status and purchase validation.
4.3 AI Processing (Critical Disclosure)
OCR-extracted text from scanned book pages is sent to the following providers solely to generate quiz questions:
- OpenRouter (routing service)
- Groq (primary LLM provider)
- Google (Gemini)
- OpenAI (GPT models)
We do not control how these providers retain or process data beyond their stated policies.
5. Data Storage and Retention
On-Device Storage
Stored locally on your device:
- Reading history
- Progress metrics
- Preferences
- OCR duplicate detection buffer
Retention: Until app deletion.
External Storage
- Firebase Analytics data: retained per Google policies (typically up to 14 months)
- RevenueCat data: retained per their policies
- OCR text: transmitted transiently; retention depends on AI providers
6. Children's Privacy
The App collects age range information, which may indicate use by minors.
Important: If a user is under 13 (U.S.) or under the applicable age in their jurisdiction:
- Parental consent may be required under COPPA and GDPR
- We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate consent
If you believe a child has provided data without consent, contact us to request deletion.

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), we rely on:

The App does not request:
